COMPAS National Roll Out
Grant Duration: 5 years
Funder: National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)
Administering University: Curtin University
In 2024, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) awarded COMPAS a $1 million AUD grant, significantly enhancing its research initiatives. COMPAS, a screening program designed to identify individuals at suicide risk within 12 months and offer support before crisis point, also secured an additional $1.3 million AUD through a collaboration with the Government of Western Australia Department of Health. These contributions will strengthen our algorithm, promote public health initiatives, and drive innovative solutions to urgent health challenges. Over the next five years, this funding will support the expansion and implementation of COMPAS across Australian universities. As part of this effort, we are training current Clinical Psychology students and Masters of Professional Psychology to conduct outreach, with these activities counting towards their practical hours. This approach not only provides essential support but also equips the next generation of clinicians with invaluable experience, further extending the reach and impact of the program nationwide.
